Vacancy for Junior Accountant (pfireSafe)
Position : Junior Accountant at pfireSafe (Accounting Firm)
Location : Gillitts, KZN, South Africa/Hybrid
Salary : R12,000 – R15,000 gross per month
(dependant on qualifications and experience)
Job Purpose : To process accounting records, prepare financial statements and submit
statutory returns on behalf of a portfolio of clients
Key Responsibilities:
1. Full bookkeeping function to balance sheet
- Issuing customer invoices
- Processing supplier invoices
- Processing banking entries
- Monthly and annual journal entries and recons (customers, suppliers, cash books, payroll, depreciation, loans/instalment sale agreements, accruals, etc)
- Preparation of monthly and annual reports
- Preparation of VAT calculations, recons and submissions
2. Payroll processing
- Processing weekly and/or monthly payslips using SimplePay/Pastel Payroll/Sage Payroll
- Administer leave records
- Monthly EMP201 and UIF submissions
- Bi-annual EMP501 and employees tax submissions and recon to accounting records
- Annual COIDA submissions
- Assisting clients with payroll related queries
3. Preparation of Annual Financial Statements
- Preparation of working paper files incl all related recons/journals
- Drafting AFS using Draftworx
4. CIPC submissions and Compliance
- Company registrations
- Director amendments
- Share transactions
- Submission of CIPC annual returns incl Beneficial ownership information
5. Income tax
- Provisional and annual income tax calculations for individuals, trusts and companies
- Submission of related returns via Efiling
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position with an accounting firm
Knowledge:
- Proficiency in MS office software (Excel, Word, etc)
- Proficiency in Sage, Xero, Draftworx and Payroll software (SimplePay, Sage Payroll, VIP, etc)
- Computer literacy
- Accounting practices
- Experience with Efiling, Easyfile, U-filing, CIPC
